Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Peacro Technologies Africa (Pvt) Ltd ("Peacro", "we", "us") collects through Peacro Pay (the "Platform"), why we collect it, and how it's handled. It applies to Payers making payments through the Platform and to Merchant organisations listed on it.

2. Data we collect

When you make a payment, we collect the details needed to process and record that transaction — which may include your name, email address, phone number, billing or delivery address, the amount paid, and what the payment was for. Exactly which fields are collected depends on the type of payment (a donation asks for less than a school fee payment, for example).

When an organisation is listed on the Platform, we collect its name, contact details, category, description, logo, and the payment information needed to route funds to it.

We also automatically collect basic technical data needed to operate the Platform securely, such as IP address and session identifiers.

3. How we use your data

  • To process and confirm payments, and to show you the status of a transaction.
  • To provide a receipt or confirmation of your payment.
  • To detect and prevent fraud, and to meet our legal and regulatory obligations.
  • To respond to support enquiries you send us.
  • To maintain the security and reliability of the Platform.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not use payment data for marketing without your separate consent.

4. Sharing with payment gateways and merchants

To process a payment, the data needed for that transaction is shared with the relevant payment gateway (currently PesePay or ZB Smile & Pay) and with the Merchant you are paying, so they can identify your payment and, where applicable, provide the service or receipt you're paying for.

Peacro does not share your data with any other third party except where required by law, to investigate fraud, or with your explicit consent.

5. Security

Payment details are encrypted in transit. We do not store full card numbers or wallet PINs — those are handled directly by the payment gateway. Access to stored data within Peacro's systems is restricted to what is necessary to operate the Platform and support users.

6. Cookies and sessions

The Platform uses a session cookie to keep you securely logged in where relevant (for example, in the organisation admin dashboard) and to protect forms from being submitted maliciously. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

7. Data retention

Transaction records are retained for as long as reasonably necessary for accounting, dispute resolution, and legal/regulatory requirements. If you ask us to delete personal data that is not subject to a retention obligation, we will do so.

8. Your rights

You can ask us to confirm what personal data we hold about you, correct inaccurate data, or delete data we are not required to retain. To make a request, contact us using the details below — we may need to verify your identity before acting on a request involving payment data.

9. Children's data

The Platform is not directed at children, and payments should be made by an adult. Where a payment is made on behalf of a minor (for example, school fees for a child), only the information necessary to identify the student for that specific payment is collected, and it is used solely for that purpose.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Significant changes will be reflected on this page.
